This week at Bethel, we begin our celebration of Advent. The word “advent” means coming and the season of advent is a time where we prepare our hearts for the celebration of Christmas. But what is Christmas all about? Already, my email is full of ads promising Black Friday discounts all week and I wonder if this is just another season where people will trample one another just to get a shot...

Life can suck. I don’t think that comes as much of a surprise to anyone. As I write this, I am thinking of numerous friends and family members that are facing difficult times. For some they are struggling to get by in this bad economy, others are facing physical illnesses, still others are facing the loss of a loved one or a broken relationship. Some are facing all three!
